How to attract customers to your website?

Once you’ve created a gorgeous professional looking website for your business, your next priority will be driving traffic to your website. By traffic, means getting visitors (attract customers) to come and check out your website.

5 Effective ways to attract visitors to your website:

1) Google my business

The first thing you should do once your website is ready is to create a listing on “Google My Business”. It is of utmost importance if you are a small business or organization that wishes to manage your online presence on Google, especially for Google search results and Google Maps.

Attract customers with Google my business

More and more people are using google maps to find the nearest coffee shop, barbershop, convenience store, plumber service, and other services. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this free traffic opportunity. Find out more about how Google My Business works.

2) Quality Content

There are a lot of reasons for creating high-level content that is going to build up credibility and authority in your space. But it’s also going to give you an opportunity to drive traffic from Google.

So what’s really important with this phase is that you learn SEO (Search engine optimization) so that you will understand what people are searching for and then write content about that topic.

The types of content don’t just have to be written, it could also be in video or audio format as well. Just make sure that from an SEO perspective, you do have some written content that accompanies it to summarize the video or audio file.

By doing this, you’re giving your website a chance to rank in Google and this could be a huge source of organic traffic your way.

3) Social Media

The social web is huge, from Facebook to Pinterest. When you combine them all, it’s over billions of eyeballs per year. Studies show almost all multinational companies are leveraging on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest to get more clients.

There’s always a big debate as to whether or not social media is worth it for your business in terms of traffic. From a paid acquisition standpoint social media is really simple. You spend a dollar, you should make more than a dollar. That is super effective even to this day.

If it wasn’t, Facebook wouldn’t be worth hundreds of billions of dollars. Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, they’re all worth billions of dollars because paid ads on social media are still effective. Sure, it’s harder and harder each year, but it’s still effective.

It’s safe to say that the organic traffic has died down over the years, and it’s likely due to the fact that social channels are bringing down the organic reach. In 2015 you can generate roughly 3 visitors per month or every 100 followers. However, now that number’s just roughly 2 visitors per month. That’s a 38.6% drop in organic traffic.

In general, posting more should drive you more traffic. However, the study shows that after eight posts a month you’ll start seeing a diminishing return. Now, this is due to the way the algorithms are set up. The more that people engage with your content, the more of them that’ll see your future content as you post it.

This is why it’s important to only post high-quality content and not mediocre content. If you’re posting mediocre content, yeah you may get traffic in the short run but as time goes on you’ll get less and less engagement over time and your numbers will die down.

4) Giving out Freebies (Email list)

Another great way to attract visitors is to give out freebies. This method not only attracts visitors to your website but it helps you to build a potential customers database too. You can build an email list by creating an opt-in, a lead magnet, or a freebie on your website.

Those three words are interchangeable, but the idea is that you’re giving away something for free in exchange for someone else to give them their email. Very much like real life, if a stranger went up to you and asked for your email or even your phone number, you probably wouldn’t give it to them.

However, if that stranger went up to you and said, “Hey, if you give me your email, I’ll give you a free gift,” you’d probably say yes! So, keep that in mind when you’re collecting emails. You want to make sure that your offer, or your lead magnet, or your freebie, is juicy enough for them to want to exchange emails with you.

It could be in the form of a PDF, video or it can also be an audio file. Regardless of what type of format you want your lead magnet to be in, you need to make sure that what you’re creating is actually what your audience wants. It needs to be a no-brainer freebie that your audience will absolutely want to download and will want to get in exchange for giving you their email.

Once you’ve created your freebie or your lead magnet, or your opt-in, or whatever you want to call it, the next thing that you want to do is you want to distribute your freebie.

5) Collaboration

This is hands down one of the best ways to increase exposure to your business and drive more clicks back to your website. Collaboration may have different forms, this could be that you go to another person’s audience and you offer a free webinar.

To them, this could be a guest post on another blog. It is definitely recommended that you build relationships in the industry with people that are doing complementary things that can all help each other grow.
